Semester/Master Thesis in software development (80-100%)

We are an engineering department within ABB Switzerland, Product Group Mining, Aluminum & Cement, center of excellence for the High Power Rectifier solution for ABB Group, being responsible for the product development, product maintenance, execution of projects and the related services. Currently we are looking for a motivated student who supports us in the development of our key software application RectiSmart. Tasks

- Induce the working principles of High Power Rectifiers and the web based design tool RectiSmart

- Assess the existing MATLAB GUI (GUI Part 1)

- Elaborate the existing MATLAB GUI with additional functionalities of the design tool RectiSmart (GUI Part 2)

- Improve the performance of the design calculations in MATLAB

- Test the new GUI

- Elaborate and document the process steps in a semester or master thesis

 

Requirements

- Currently pursuing an BSc or MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or Computational Science

- Deeper understanding and knowledge in power electronics

- Profound experience with MATLAB, ideally also in GUI programming

- Positive attitude with a strong desire to learn

- Well-structured, accurate and independent working style

- Fluent command of English, both written and spoken
